Laish Release New Album 'Obituaries' 25th March 2013

Daniel Green has been busy. A central member of Brighton's Willkommen Collective, promoter, curator of collective compilation albums and presenter of Simple Folk Radio, Danny's own band, LAISH, have developed into one of the most original and mood-enhancing live bands in the UK.

LAISH's first album was widely praised across the board:

On March 25th the grit-folk-pop five-piece deliver a second album, 'Obituaries', an intoxicating, heart-rending and humorous narrative of life, death and infidelity.

LAISH's beautiful sound centres around the many facets of Green's lush yet frayed voice and guitar work - his unique finger style on both nylon and electric guitar is a self-taught technique that sets him apart from his peers.

LAISH the band have been through many line-up changes but in the last year have become a solid unit.  Featuring drummer Dan Harding, bassist Patrick Lawrence (of Sons of Noel and Adrian) and two angels providing both beatific vocal harmonies and lush instrumental arrangements - Emma Gatrill on clarinet & accordion and Martha Rose on violin.

'Obituaries' tells the story of love, lost & found and betrayal; it is an exploration of a desolate time. Yet within the intensity is much joy and humour too.  Take Warm the Wind - which will be available as a free download - a heartfelt declaration, a pleading love letter of sexual frustration, at once touching and hilarious. Obituaries, is a haunting mantra of a man's obsession with death and legacy and shows the new band at their noisiest and most intense. Visions explores similar themes from a more personal, reflective perspective; a delicately textured and rhythmically remarkable epic.

2012 was a good year for LAISH.  Radio play from the likes of Marc Riley,  two headline tours of intimate venues in the UK, a tour of Germany, a triumphant mainstage performance at the first No Direction Home Festival and guest appearances with the likes of Grizzly Bear, The Leisure Society and Peggy Sue.

The album was recorded at Danny's home, and comprises entirely of real instruments.

2013 and everything is in place.......
