Lord Huron Announces Debut UK Shows Early February 2013

"Ben Schneider's soaring folk-rock project conjures a life unfettered and outside of time - roads and rivers wind.... The palette is broad, with layered guitars, harmonica and saloon piano tinged with gamelan-style percussion and Asian-flavoured melodies, all serving an impressionist Wild West cosmology that includes Schneider's visual art and film work. It's ambitious, beguiling stuff." Rolling Stone 'Artist to Watch'.

As anticipation builds for the release of their magnificent debut album Lonesome Dreams, hotly-tipped pop experimentalists Lord Huron are pleased to announce their debut UK shows, such is the demand the first show sold out as soon as ATP announced it, so a second has been added at The Lexington:

7 February at London's Old Blue Last (presented by All Tomorrow's Parties) -SOLD OUT

8 February at The Lexington, London - http://www.atpfestival.com/events/lordhuronlondon.php

Led by Michigan-born songwriting prodigy Ben Schneider, their sound - a joyous collision of Appalachian percussion, rustic guitars and sumptuous harmonies lit up by lens-flare flashes of electronics - has won rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly while an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno confirmed them as a band on a stratospheric rise.

Now, after a string of sold-out US shows, that stratospheric rise is set to spread to British shores. Described as "a mysterious, powerful force" by LA Weekly, the band's live shows brings to life the effervescent noises of Lonesome Dreams, an album as vast and easy to lose yourself in as a Sergio Leone cinescape. Inspired by the rust coloured canyons and characters of the Wild West (with the emphasis on wild), the record also encompasses short films, intriguing artwork and a series of imagined novels by a fictional ageing wordsmith, the mysterious George Ranger Johnson. "I'm interested in creating a world with its own mythology," says the Michigan native.

Lord Huron began as a solo endeavour in 2010 but Schneider has since enlisted some of his "best amigos" to turn his songs into a powerful live experience: Mark Barry (percussion, vocals), Miguel Briseno (bass, percussion), Brett Farkas (guitar, vocals) and Tom Renaud (guitar, vocals). "We've got a pretty good working relationship," he says. "A good wrestling match can solve almost anything we disagree about."

Tickets for the Lexington show are on sale now, while Lonesome Dreams is released on 14 January on Play It Again Sam / I AM SOUND.
