Pitchfork Music Festival Paris 2013 Announce To The Line-up Yo La Tengo, Glass Candy Plus Many More
After just one week all early bird tickets have sold out for Paris's annual Pitchfork Music Festival. Entering into its third year, the highly revered and critically acclaimed live music festival will be returning to Grande Halle de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement on the 31st October - 2nd November.
The second batch of names to appear on the bill are Disclosure, Yo La Tengo, Glass Candy, Baths, Ice Age, Jagwar Ma and Only Real - these will join the previously announced Hot Chip, The Knife, Deerhunter, Warpaint, The Haxan Cloak and Junip.
If there's one word to describe Disclosure's sound, it's fun. The London sibling duo are an act that need no introduction, having recently glided seamlessly into the UK charts to no 1 with their debut album 'Settle' which includes recent pop hits 'White Noise', 'Latch' and 'You & Me'. Known for eruptive, booty shaking dancefloors, expect big grins and lots of elbow jostling when these two take to the decks.
Cult US alt rockers Yo La Tengo have been dubbed 'the quintessential critics' band" by US press and it's not hard to see why. Having achieved limited mainstream success the band remain a media favourite with a strong live presence and fixated fan base. Look out for covers in their set; they are known to have an impressive repertoire.
Another band gaining a lot of heat in the UK are Aussies Jagwar Ma, not just from the press but from their peers too. Foals are known to be big fans of the band, and invited them on tour earlier this year. Their woozy wigged out sound has seen them dubbed Madchester revivalist, but there's more to this band than that.
As with 2012, the festival will span across 3 days and will make full use of the Grande halle de la Villette's multifunctional spaces. The unique building lies within the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement . The venue used to be an abattoir and retains a vast sense of space. The historical building now serves as a venue for trade fairs, exhibitions, music festivals, and open-air cinema.
Tickets for the 3 day event cost ?129.90 / £110.50
