Reuben And The Dark Release Debut Single 'Rolling Stone' Released March 24th 2014 [Listen]

Reuben and the Dark will release their debut single, 'Rolling Stone', on 7" vinyl/download through Arts & Crafts on March 24th.  Marrying dark, emotive folk and soul with deep, introspective lyrics that explore the duality of misery and joy, Rolling Stone will be backed with Shoulderblade. The single is the first taster of upcoming material from their forthcoming debut album (to be released in early summer), produced by Florence + The Machine drummer Chris Hayden and Stephen Kozmeniuk (Madonna, Nicki Minaj) and mixed by Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys).

Reuben and the Dark is a collection of five multi instrumentalists and vocalists from Calgary, Canada, led by Reuben Bullock. Reuben's songwriting draws heavily on his childhood as the son of a traveling preacher, a lifestyle he and his brother/drummer Distance rebelled against, spurning the spiritual world for a wilder one that he now considers himself lucky to have survived. At one point, Reuben was a semi-professional skateboarder with a reputation for fearlessness. His trials and brushes with mortality fueled notebooks full of poems and lyrics that spawned a beautiful, dark, chilling set of atmospheric indie rock and folk that's as personal as it gets.

A chance meeting with members of Florence + The Machine unfolded after the band heard Reuben's stark, beautiful debut solo album (recorded in a Canadian prairie town shed) playing in a shop while they were on tour. Later, Reuben joined them on stage and eventually flew to London to record some demos with Hayden.
