The Garden Festival 2013 Croatia Announces 1st Wave Of Live Acts And Djs

With the festive season now finally behind us, already the summer is looking rather tantalizing. And after last year's UK washout, there's no better place than The Garden Festival in Croatia to experience its unique blending of festival and holiday into a glorious fun-filled journey, dancing under the sun and stars with like-minded people from across the world. Entering its 8th year in 2013 and now firmly established at its new home in Tisno, The Garden Festival is Croatia's original event, revered for its intimate family ethos and setting on the beautiful Dalmatian coastline, beyond which glitters the enticingly warm Adriatic. And now the first wave of live acts and DJs can be announced.

Iconic Garden Festival favorites Crazy P are the first live act revealed, returning after last summer's stunning show. Never forgetting their 90s' house, disco, and soul roots, Danielle, Ron and Hot Toddy are pure main stage magic. Glaswegian Auntie Flo brings a sonic spectrum influenced by everyone from Ricardo Villalobos and Four Tet to Caribou and Fela Kuti, his Highlife residency providing the space to experiment across genres. Debutants and xlr8r-tipped Outboxx bring vintage house sounds to Tisno ahead of their debut LP dropping this year, and Claremont 56's Paqua also perform for the first time too. Richly textured sounds from Land of Light, who released their eponymous album on ESP Institute last autumn, feature too, and the feted Face and Heel mix live piano with crisp future garage/deep house beats. More live names will be announced shortly.

Over on the DJ side, producer, DJ and musician Floating Points offers house, hip hop, dubstep, techno, jazz and classical sounds; always deep and soulful, but with reputable bounce and heavy bass, this pioneering and classically-trained innovator tops the first wave of names. Bristol's heavyweight Eats Everything follows. After his mercurial 2012, Edits Everything Essential Mix and acclaimed releases, he fuses forward-thinking music that draws elements from classic house, UK bass music, Detroit techno, jungle and early rave together to riotous effect. USA deep duo Thugfucker also star, along with Krystal Klear debuting too; his Fact mix and genre-hopping sets have garnered great acclaim. Legendary DJ Theo Parish also graces Croatia, and there's the return of Soul Clap and Wolf and Lamb to savour too, whose sublime disco and house wowed the Garden faithful back in 2011.

The south coast's Psychemagik join pioneering Dutch spinner Young Marco and one of house music's true originals, Maurice Fulton. And speaking of hot new debutant talent, Bicep enter 2013 as one of dance music's most heralded duos. Dedicated crate-digging has created what they call their "80s-inspired analogue house," honing their sound from Chicago house to super-rare Italo cuts. Croatia regulars Crazy P DJ as well as performing live, and Garden icon Greg Wilson is back for another year. Huxley epitomises creativity and talent in spades, with his releases spanning the deep to vocal house spectrum to stellar effect. A regular on the global club and festival scene, he makes his much-anticipated Garden debut.

State side's Eric Duncan returns too, with Wild Bunch founder DJ Nature, Beats in Space's underground NYC airwave king Tim Sweeney, Brighton's bright star Maxxi Soundsystem, Rekids' Toby Tobias, Use of Weapons founders Deep Space Orchestra and party pairing PBR Streetgang. Disco-dub dabblers Idjut Boys also join the fun in the sun, along with Lisbon's famed Rex Club resident Tiago making his Garden debut, the richly gifted sonic craftsman Brawther, Wolf Music's KRL, young stars Casino Times and Claremont 56 head honcho Mudd.

Further support comes from a wealth of talent including Wolf Music, Felix Dickinson, Nicola Conte, Joe 90, El Harvo, Bad Passion, Bobby Beige, James Holroyd, Neil Diablo, Baby G, Dean Sunshine Smith, Feel The Real, Adam Regan, Christophe, Somethingsounds, Brinsley Kazak, Tom Rio, Mr Doris, Ian Blevins, Paddy Freeform, Ole Smokey, Phat Phil Cooper/Nu Northern Soul, Bootsy, No Fakin, Stu Patterson, Dave Jarvis and Terry Farley.

Argonaughty boat and Barbarellas club partners joining The Garden in 2013 are a brilliant mix from Just Jack, Beats in Space, Resident Advisor, Futureboogie Recordings, Tief, Leftfoot, Berlin's much lauded Wilde Renate crew, Louche, Hidden Agenda, The Pool, We Love, Hypercolour, Claremont 56, Faith and Wolf Music. Crews and dates for all the boat and club parties will be announced shortly.
