Originally from Bristol, Canterbury and Lithuania, Until the Bird formed in London in 2011, self-releasing their six track debut EP 'Dwelling', in December 2012. It won support from BBCR3's Late Junction, Resonance FM (Sam Lee), Folk Radio and BBC Introducing. The band have since performed widely across London and the South of England, including at Folk Rising (Cecil Sharp House) and with Scottish folk luminary Alasdair Roberts (promoted by The Goose Is Out).
The debut album 'Pale Clouded Yellow' is out June 30th, recorded at Dental Records Studios, Stoke Newington throughout the Summer and Autumn of 2013. An intimate live sound is augmented by other musicians adding double bass (Nathan Feddo - Dizraeli and the Small Gods), string quartet (including Neil Walsh of The Smoke Fairies, and Flora Curzon from Sam Lee and Friends), and clarinet (Owen Hewson - Arlet).
Until The Bird (of the Soul Takes Flight from the Cage of the Body to Consort with the Nightingales of the Everlasting Garden - to give them their full name) write songs that are simply mini-epic celebrations of life and love made in defiance of war and the forces of late capitalism. They craft something you haven't ever quite heard before, while remaining rooted in the musical history of these isles and further afield. Fusing irresistable melodies with a restless musical curiosity and a desire to make songs that feel completely new.
