Villagers Nominated For The 2010 Mercury Music Prize
Villagers are Conor J. O' Brien and friends, who won over many hearts with their debut 'Becoming a Jackal', released in spring this year. Becoming a Jackal introduced us to Villagers' vivid narratives, gripping poetry and melodic depth. Conor J. O'Brien's clear and distinctive voice weaves a remarkable spell, delivering an album of rare and alarming beauty. Having already headlined a tour of the UK and performed with the likes of Neil Young and Tindersticks, you will be able to catch Villagers live at the Edinburgh Edge Festival, Big Chill, Leeds/ Reading and Bestival. They will also be performing two very special and now sold out shows on the 4th and 5th of August, as the first live act ever to play the Tunnels under the Old Vic Theatre in London. A headline performance at the Scala has just been confirmed for the 5th October. The stunning Ship Of Promises will be released as the next single on 2nd August.
