Visions Festival Announces Further Acts For 2014 Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats, Perfume Genius Plus Many More
Visions Festival returns for its second year following its sellout first event in 2013 - taking place across different Warehouse venues, and outdoor, courtyard and rooftop areas in London Fields
On August 2nd 2014, London will see the return of a highly exciting and fresh new event in the Capital, taking place around London Fields - VISIONS festival. Further acts are announced today.
Last year saw the launch of Visions - a hugely successful event that featured performances from the likes of !!!(Chk Chk Chk), F*cked Up, Cloud Nothings, Jeffrey Lewis, The Haxan Cloak and many more, to widespread public and critical acclaim. There was a noticeably special and exciting atmosphere across the whole day of the festival in the middle of a neighbourhood where many live. Whilst sold out, the queues for bars were never long, clashes infrequent and there was the type of relaxed and warm-feeling community night out many people felt wasn't possible in London, yet it was full of international talent and people from all over.
The festival returns this year with a wonderfully diverse and carefully curated line-up featuring a wealth of alternative music from around the globe, spread across different warehouse spaces, a brewery, rooftops and courtyards around London Fields.
Today's announcement sees psychedelic doom band Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats announced for a special intimate stage headline slot, completing a mouth-watering bill of heavier sounds with Andrew WK, The Fat White Family, Eagulls, Perfect Pussy and more. Another stage headliner is announced for a unique performance - Seattle's Perfume Genius, returning for a UK one-off full band show. Fiery Furnaces singer Eleanor Friedberger also joins the bill for a one-off London date, her first for some time. Elsewhere the festival is thrilled to announce Canadian synth-pop band Trust, a UK debut for New Zealand blog-hypes Yumi Zouma and newly Matador-signed Copenhagan punks Lower. Manchester's rising talent Kiran Leonard also joins the bill, fresh from a stirring performance at BBC 6 Music Festival. Finally, to complete a very exciting day of music across the event, London's Deptforth Goth will play a special opening set at the festival, his first full performance since his sell-out Union Chapel show at the end of last year.
Music is just the start of the event. The DIY nature of the event will be showcased by exhibitions from local artists, including a newly announced record fair presented by London's Flashback Records. This joins a showing from London-based collective Skull Paradise, a Tattoo Art show and a special Comic Book Fair by Breakdown for this year's event. There will be a unique array of food stalls, courtesy of the famous Netil Market collective - including Lucky Chip burgers, Breddo's Taco Shack, BAO, popsicles and many more. The festival's local approach also features bespoke art direction, with all visual affairs being handled by a much-celebrated duo of artists, Stephen Agnew and Robert Wallace.
Curated by a group of young tastemakers and cutting edge promoters (Rockfeedback Concerts, Sexbeat and Bird On The Wire), the theory and practice is to collaborate rather than compete, focusing on something creative, progressive and new (first and foremost), in an intimate and welcoming festival set-up within London. This year they will be joined by returning partners Sailor Jerry, and new partners Fader Magazine and London In Stereo, helping to refine and expand the scope and scale of the event, with an extremely exciting bill of talent on display.
Focusing on accessibility and highly alternative entertainment, the festival looks to be a fairly priced ticket (£25.00), with a wealth of different acts to see and things to do in some of city's best new venues and spaces - smack bang in the middle of the void of London in the mid-summer.
