Kevin Spacey says he has to like Britain's Queen Elizabeth because she gave him an honour.

The American actor - who is currently serving a 10-year stint as artistic director of London's Old Vic Theatre - was made an honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire for his services to drama by the monarch's eldest son Prince Charles last year, and he loves the royal family as a result.

Asked if he is a fan of the British royal family, Kevin told BANG Showbiz: " Are you kidding me? The queen made me a CBE last year, I've got to be a huge fan of her. How could I be anything else?"

Kevin is a charity ambassador for The Prince's Trust of which Charles is president and was thrilled to be asked to take part in the new American Express Be Inspired campaign which will give 50p to the charity every time someone shares their inspirations via twitter or Facebook.

He said: "I have long been a supporter of The Prince's Trust and so when American Express asked me to launch 'Amex Be Inspired' and help young people build their confidence and fulfil their potential, I was delighted to get involved."
