Pregnant designer Sarah Burton - who created the wedding dress worn by then-Kate Middleton for her marriage to Prince William - is hoping to be commissioned to create maternity wear for the duchess.
Sarah Burton wants to design maternity wear for the Duchess of Cambridge.
The acclaimed designer - who created the wedding dress for the duchess' nuptials to Prince William in April 2011 - hopes to be asked to create a new wardrobe for the royal, following the recent announcement she is expecting her first child.
Asked if she would be making any maternity clothes for Catherine, Sarah - who is due to give birth to twins in February - laughed and said: ''I hope I will be.''
Sarah admits being asked to work on the wedding gown for the duchess - who was known as Kate Middleton before her marriage - was a big surprise.
She said: ''It came completely out of the blue, it was very exciting and I felt very privileged.''
However, the Alexander McQueen designer says working on a garment for Catherine was ''easy'' because she has such natural beauty and style.
She added: ''She looked so beautiful, she's got such an amazing sense of grace and style, it was quite easy to make her look good.
''It was a real labour of love and a real collaboration, for me it was a huge highlight of my career.''
Sarah was speaking after receiving the OBE for services to the British fashion industry during a Buckingham Palace investiture ceremony and felt ''very humbled'' to receive the accolade.
She said: ''I'm very, very humbled and it's just a huge honour to be here - I'm very lucky.''
And she also praised the style of Prince Charles, who presented her with her honour.
She said: ''I think he's got an amazing sense of style and has quite a history with Savile Row and has impeccable taste.''
