Prince is set to follow in the footsteps of James Brown, Whitney Houston and Diana Ross at the upcoming BET Awards - the pop superstar will be honoured with a lifetime achievement honour.
The Purple Rain hitmaker is set to receive the coveted award at the ceremony in Los Angeles on 27 June (10), as the event celebrates its 10th year.
Organisers will use the ceremony to pay tribute to the singer's long running career and his contribution to music over the years.
Stephen G. Hill, president of programming, music and specials for BET, tells the Associated Press, "Prince is dynamic. Prince is genius. Prince is music. (The tribute will reflect his) unique style."
The BET Awards show will be hosted by Queen Latifah and feature performances from stars including Kanye West.
