Invaders Must Die, the new album by the Prodigy, has topped the UK album charts while Kelly Clarkson's new single hit the top singles spot.

The dance act's first original album since 2001 sold 100,000 copies in its first week on release to become one of the fastest-selling albums of the year.

And after breaking a US record for the highest chart climb, former American Idol winner Clarkson experienced a similar surge in the UK, as her single My Life Would Suck Without You jumped from 103 to number one.

Last week's number one, The Fear by Lily Allen, fell to number five while country star Taylor Swift climbed 19 places and Lady GaGa rose by 12 to claim second and third respectively.
