Queen - Roger Taylor Suspected Queen Would Quit Touring
The We Will Rock You himakers played their last series of concerts with Mercury in 1986 to promote their A Kind of Magic album, but they swore off touring when the frontman was diagnosed with Aids the following year (87).
However, Taylor is adamant Mercury wanted to quit live performance even before he received the devastating news about his health.
The drummer tells Mojo magazine, "That was a fabulous tour and the band were in good shape then. We didn't know it would be the last time, but you might say there was an inkling. Freddie was saying, 'Oh, God, I can't do this any more' on that tour. But then he used to say that on every tour. This one was no different."
Mercury died from Aids-related bronchopneumonia in 1991.
