Romanian director Radu Mihaileanu is the big winner at this year's (05) Copenhagen International Film Festival, picking up accolades for his latest movie LIVE AND BECOME.

Mihaileanu's tale about an Ethiopian boy adapting to life in an Israeli society was named Best Movie and Best Script at the climax of the Danish festival on Sunday (28AUG05).

Fellow Romanian CRISTI PUIU was honoured with the Grand Jury Special Prize for THE DEATH OF MR LAZARESCU, with his leading man IOAN FISCUTEANU winning Best Actor.

Other winners on the night included FACTOTUM movie-maker Bent Hamer for Best Director and his star LILI TAYOR for Best Actress.

British director Nicolas Roeg and Greek-born director CONSTANTIN COSTA-GAVRAS were also honoured with lifetime achievement trophies.
