Wu-Tang Clan star Raekwon has revisited the making of his classic debut album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... in a new documentary to mark the 20th anniversary of its release.

The rapper and his bandmate Ghostface Killah headed to the Sundance Film Festival in Utah over the weekend (24-25Jan15) to share a preview of the new film, Purple Tape Files, and Raekwon has since revealed the project will be completed with help from public funding via an upcoming campaign on FanBacked.com.

Sharing the news with Twitter.com fans, Raekwon writes, "Twitter It's official, I released the trailer at Sundance for our documentary #ThePurpleTapeFiles .... This is just the beginning..."

The hip-hop icon reveals they are planning to use crowd-sourcing to finance the rest of the project to give them more creative freedom over their work.

He tells Complex.com, "We wanted to do it organic (sic). Not having somebody come in and tell us what they think we should do."

Raekwon is now planning to give fans in Los Angeles a sneak peak at the documentary at an event on 7 February (15).

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... was released 20 years ago this summer (15).
