R&B singer Raheem DeVaughn's 36th birthday will be made extra special this week (05May11) when he is handed the key to the city of Washington, D.C. in recognition of his extensive charity work.
The Grammy-nominated star dedicates much of his spare time to helping out in his local community to raise awareness about Hiv and Aids, as well as working to preserve the arts for today's youth.
He will be hailed for his efforts by Mayor Vincent C. Gray on Thursday (05May11), which has also been declared as Raheem DeVaughn Day.
And the singer is overwhelmed by the honour.
He tells AllHipHop.com, "I am humbled and truly honoured to be the recipient of the Key to the City and my own day... I am very thankful to Washington, D.C. for their loyalty and support."
