Singer/songwriter Randy Newman paid tribute to Jerry Buss on Thursday (21Feb13) by performing at the Los Angeles Lakers owner's memorial service.

The 80-year-old real estate mogul lost his battle with cancer on Monday (18Feb13), and celebrity fans Vince Neil, Rob Lowe and Adam Levine flocked to pay tribute to the basketball businessman.

Buss' memorial service at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre was just as star-studded, with Oscar winner Newman taking to the stage to sing his hit You've Got a Friend in Me.

A slew of Lakers stars attended to pay tribute to Buss, with former player Jerry West, 74, choking back tears as he hailed his pal as "the most humble, unique man I've ever been around".

Basketball icon Kobe Bryant said of Buss, "He gave me the trust that made me want to go an extra mile for him... He had the ability to convince you to follow him" and added: "This has been an up-and-down season. What we all have in common is we all believe in Dr. Jerry Buss. We'll be playing for the memory of a great man, Dr. Jerry Buss."
