Randy Quaid, the American Hollywood actor, and his wife EVI QUAID have been released from a Canadian detention facility following their arrest last week, reports the Associated Press. After declaring that her father was a Canadian FBI agent, Mrs Quaid has now been granted permission to live and work in the country. However, the couple's lawyer did not confirm whether Randy had acquired citizenship.
The pair were arrested in Vancouver last Thursday (21st October 2010) on outstanding US warrants related to vandalism charges. They then appeared at an immigration hearing in which they requested refugee status, saying they were next on a 'Hollywood star whackers' death list. CATHERINE SAS, the Quaid's laywer, confirmed that border officials have withdrawn their proceedings and that EVI QUAID is now free to live and work in Canada.
However, the couple will have to appear in a Santa Barbara court next week on felony vandalism charges, and their US lawyer ROBERT SANGER says he has spoken to the Quaid's and they intend to be at the hearing on November 2nd.
