Hayley Atwell has revealed Ray Winstone's ''kind'' and ''gentlemanly nature'' made love scenes between the pair in 'The Sweeney' ''a lot less awkward'' than they tend to be.
The 30-year-old actress stars as both Ray's onscreen love interest in the police drama movie and as Chris Evans' lover Peggy Carter in 2011 fantasy film 'Captain America: The First Avenger', and she particularly enjoyed both actors' choice of underwear in their respective movies.
She told BANG Showbiz: ''Ray was such a gentleman to me, so kind, which made the love scenes a lot less awkward than they can be. I didn't have to do anything except actually kiss Chris so being thrown up against a public toilet adds a little bit more danger to it.
''Ray wears yellow pants and I guess Chris wears little whities. I can't insult either of them by choosing whose pants are best, it's chalk and cheese. They're incomparable.''
Hayley loves portraying female action stars in movies and she hopes her performances in 'The Sweeney' and 'Captain America: The First Avenger' will inspire other ''complicated new roles for women'' to become more commonplace.
Speaking at the UK Premiere of 'The Sweeney' at London's Leicester Square last night (03.09.12), she added: ''These two roles are fun fictional roles, but I love strong women, people like Bette Davis. I would love to be part of this new generation who can really create those roles for women, complicated new roles for women. It's just a lot of fun.''
