Red Hot Chili Peppers are in negotiations with Kanye West to co-headline a summer (06) tour of the US.

The Under The Bridge hitmakers are big fans of West's pioneering hip-hop, and want to surprise their fans with the diversity of their live line-ups when they promote upcoming album STADIUM ARCADIUM.

Frontman Anthony Kiedis tells MTV, "I'm a fan of him in general and I think his music is very good, and I just like his vibe and his energy.

"We've had good success with bringing bands (on the road with us) that aren't traditionally seen as going together, and the more we can kind of break the mould of a genre-specific bill, it's kind of good for us.

"It would be great. I hope it all works out. The channels have been opened."
