LAW + ORDER star Richard Belzer is calling on the cop show's makers to explain why they are cutting him from the series. Belzer's character Sergeant John Munch has slowly disappeared from the show's plotlines, causing fans of the grizzled cop to protest online. And the 63-year-old actor is joining them, telling PageSix.com, "It's mystifying to me. And I have to admit my feelings are slightly hurt. "But I do feel flattered my fans miss me."

Considering Richard Belzer BROUGHT his large fan base from "Homicide: Life on the Street" over to "SVU," you'd think the producers would lay off the ageism and give this exceptionally talented actor more to do and higher visibility on the show. He's also a draw for the money-spending demographic of women like me, in the 40 to 50-plus age bracket, because the guy is easy on the eyes and so very cool. The lack of Belzer on the show has spurred me to ask people to write in and let Dick Wolf and Neal Baer know we want to see much more of him. If you feel as I do, write one letter -- e-mail it to his manager so Belz can see your support, then print it out and send it to SVU.Here are the addresses. Please write, won't you?Eric GardnerPanacea Entertainmentinfo@panacea-net.comSVUChelsea PiersPier 62/Suite 305NY, NY 10011
