Actress Heather Locklear was taken to hospital on Thursday (January 12, 2012) after an emergency 911 call was placed from her home in northwest Los Angeles. Though it is unclear why the call was made, Tmz.com report that Locklear, 50, may have suffered the effects of mixing alcohol with prescription medication.
Ventura Country Sherriff's Capt Mike Aranda told People magazine, "Emergency response personnel responded to a medical emergency call at Ms. Locklear's residence.Once they arrived, it was determined that Ms. Locklear needed to be transported to the hospital for further medical attention". He added that hospital staff were now "taking care of the situation", but he didn't know the current condition of Ms Locklear. Reports suggest the emergency services were called by Locklear's sister at around 2.05pm PT, with paramedics examining the Melrose Place star at the scene and determining she needed to be hospitalized. It echoes a similar incident in 2008, when 911 responded to an emergency call from Heather's doctor who feared she had attempted to commit suicide, only for it to turn out to be a false alarm. Though there has been no official comment from Heather's people, late on Thursday, her daughter Ava Sambora, 14, tweeted, "Well this sucks".
Ava's father is the Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora. The couple split in 2006 after twelve years together. In April 2007, Locklear began a relationship with her Melrose Place co-star Jack Wagner and became engaged in August 2011, however, just three months later the pair announced they had split.
