Comedian Ricky Gervais has donated the $400,000 (GBP200,000) proceeds from a stand-up performance in Scotland to a cancer charity.
The star was criticised recently for charging fans $75 (GBP37.50) to watch his show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival - but has given something back by staging a special gig at Edinburgh castle on Sunday (26Aug07), and handing over his profits to MACmillan Cancer Support.
The cause is one close to Gervais' heart - his mother Eva died of cancer six years ago (01).
