Ricky Gervais proved there are no hard feelings after missing out on presenting the 2009 Academy Awards - he is helping host Hugh Jackman write jokes for the forthcoming ceremony.
The British comedian was hotly tipped to host the prestigious prizegiving before Oscars bosses announced in December (08) the Australia actor had landed the coveted gig.
But The Office creator will still be infusing the Oscars with his brand of humour - after lending Jackman a few of his own gags.
Gervais writes on his official blog: "Hugh Jackman called me again for another brainstorming session about the Oscars. He called me out of the blue a couple of weeks ago and said he wanted me to write some gags for him. We've spoken a few times and we've come up with some funny ideas I think.
"It's difficult for me because it's so mainstream, and 90 per cent of everything that comes into my head is unsuitable. He's great though. He seems to have no ego at all. Nice bloke. Hope he does well."
And Jackson is grateful for the funnyman's input: "I rang Ricky Gervais, of whom I'm a massive fan, and told him I was looking for ideas and he said, 'No problem!' and started riffing with me. You can't believe how lovely people are being."
Jackman will take to the stage to helm the Los Angeles ceremony on 22 February (09).
