Ricky Gervais has congratulated his pal Louis C.K. for beating him to the honour of Best Stand-Up at the inaugural Comedy Awards in the U.S.
The funnyman scooped the title at the ceremony in New York on Saturday (26Mar11), seeing off competition from fellow comics Gervais, Bill Maher, Aziz Ansari, and Whitney Cummings.
But Gervais is not bitter at losing out - he's adamant his friend's success and recognition is long overdue.
The Brit - who gave his fellow funnyman a role in his 2009 movie The Invention of Lying - writes in a post on his blog, "Congratulations to Louis CK for beating me to Best Stand-up at The US Comedy Awards. Greatly deserved. It's about time that fat bald ginger c**t caught a break. He's amazing on Talking Funny by the way."
