Kaiser Chiefs' Ricky Wilson had an accident on the bumper cars while filming their next single.

The 36-year-old singer was spotted wearing an eyepatch at last night's (12.05.14) Radio Academy Awards and insists things got ''out of hand'' at the fairground when they were working on the video for their music.

He said: ''We were filming a video for our next single and I had a minor accident.

''I was on a bumper car because we were filming in a fairground and things got out of hand.

''You'll understand why when you see the end result.''

Ricky insists the incident could have happened anywhere since they weren't performing a dangerous stunt.

He added: ''It wasn't even a stunt, it could have happened in the kitchen.''

Meanwhile, the Kaiser Chiefs - also made up of Simon Rix, Vijay Mistry, Nick 'Peanut' Baines and Andrew White - recently admitted they want their track 'Coming Home' to be England's unofficial world cup anthem even though The Football Association have selected Gary Barlow's 'Greatest Day' - featuring former Spice Girl Mel C, Pixie Lott, Katy B and Gary Lineker - as the official track ahead of the competition in Brazil this summer.

Bassist Simon said: ''Hopefully, 'Coming Home' will be played when England are carrying the World Cup on the plane back home.''

Ricky joked: ''We could always do a special edition - 'Coming Home Early!'''
