British funnyman Rik Mayall has blamed his former writing partner Adrian Edmondson for scrapping plans to bring their hit 1990s Tv show Bottom back to the small screen.

The pair worked together on several British sitcoms during their 30-year comedy partnership, and they reunited last year (12) after Bbc bosses approached them about reviving their most famous project.

Mayall and Edmondson began writing episodes for a new series of Bottom, which last aired in 1995, but the reunion fell through, and Mayall has now spoken out to blame Edmondson for axing the project.

He tells Britain's Daily Mail newspaper, "The Bbc came to us about reviving these characters and we wrote two episodes in which we were really old b**tards and they were very funny and the Bbc liked them. But then Ade changed his mind. He said we weren't old enough - I said that's why it's called acting. He wants to wait 10 f**king years until we're older, but I won't be able to see or walk by then."
