Robert De Niro, the 67-year-old OSCAR winning actor, will receive the coveted 'Cecil B. Demille Award' for his contribution to the film world, at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 16th 2011. PHILIP BERK, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and the actor Kevin Spacey, announced the news today (November 10th 2010).
The award will be just one in a long list of honours that De Niro has won throughout his illustrious career. The 67-year-old took home the 'Best Actor' ACADEMY AWARD for his roles in 'The Godfather Part 2', and 'Raging Bull', and he also won the Theatre World Award for his Broadway debut 'Cuba & His Teddy Bear'. The actor's performances in the likes of 'The Good Shepherd', 'Casino', 'A Bronx Tale', 'Goodfellas', and 'Taxi Driver' were met with universal acclaim, and his recent comedy work in the 'Meet the Parents' movies also gained high praise.
De Niro will receive his lifetime achievement award at the ceremony in January, which will be hosted by the comedian Ricky Gervais.
