Robert Redford's son has made a documentary about his own child's struggle with dyslexia.

Writer and director James Redford was inspired to shoot The Big Picture: Rethinking Dyslexia after witnessing his son Dylan's struggles with learning and schoolwork because of the disorder.

The project includes interviews with stars including Sir Richard Branson, who is also dyslexic, in a bid to prove that having the condition does not mean you can't be a success.

Redford says, "It's a uniquely personal film. At eight or nine, my son could not read. And like any parent in that situation it was difficult for my wife and I (sic).

"Luckily, I was married to an educator and she was able to do a lot of hard work to come to understand the dyslexia that caused his problem."
