Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb has been discharged from hospital.

The 'How Deep is your Love' hitmaker wants to get back to work in "the next couple of days" after receiving treatment for inflammation of the colon at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, England, where he was rushed to on Thursday (13.10.11) complaining of "severe" abdominal pains".

A press release from his representative reads: "Robin Gibb has been discharged from the hospital today where he had been treated since last Thursday for inflammation of the colon. He is at home recovering and plans to slowly resume work over the next couple of days."

The musician - who was accompanied to hospital by his wife Dwina - underwent surgery for a blocked intestine last year, the same condition which led to the death of his twin brother Maurice in 2003.

His manager Eaton explained: "Obviously it is a worry. This is what did it for his brother Maurice - but what is different is his condition was left for a long time and Robin's has not been.

"Our concern is that it keeps recurring but he is determined to get better and we just hope things will be OK. Robin just wants to get back to work."
