Robin Gibb claims he is "on the road to recovery" as he continues his battle with liver cancer. After a string of recent hospital visits, the 61-year-old Bee Gees legend is now being cared for by his wife Dwina but left a touching message to fans on his blog this week.
Thanking supporters for their continuing support, Robin wrote, "It is humbling and I take your prayers and good wishes for my health very seriously. I have been very unwell and am now on the road to recovery, and your prayers and wishes are a great tonic to me". The musician signed off by adding, "I believe because of you I will get well and my deepest love goes out to you all". Gibb has been treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, according to the UK's Daily Mirror, but his wife is looking into alternative treatments, telling telling Sky Arts, "This incredible Indian tribe introduced Robin and I to something called spider medicine. It apparently contains properties that can help you get well from certain untreatable illnesses". Last year, Robin underwent surgery for a blocked intestine, a similar procedure to the one that eventually led to the death of his twin brother Maurice in 2003.
The Bee Gees racked up dozens of chart hits and sold over 200 million albums and singles in a career that spanned five decades.
