Spanish singer/actress Rocio Durcal died on Saturday (25MAR06) following a long battle with cancer. She was 61. The SONG OF YOUTH hitmaker, real name MARIA DE LOS ANGELES DE LAS HERAS ORTIZ, passed away in her hometown of Madrid, Spain, after fighting cancer of the womb for five years. Durcal was a huge star in Latin America, as well as her native Spain, and was so popular in Mexico, she earned the nickname 'the most Mexican Spaniard'. During her long career, which began on the silver screen in the 1960s, Durcal duetted with fellow Spaniard Julio Iglesias and Puerto Rican pop hunk Ricky Martin.
