Veteran rocker Rod Stewart defied this summer's (06) hose pipe ban in England to keep his private soccer pitch green. Water companies in southern England were forced to place a pipe ban on its customers after the country suffered a drought and strictly imposed $1,800 (GBP1,000) on those who broke the ban. The former Faces singer admits he ordered his groundsman to keep the grass on his pitch moist, despite the ban. He says, "This summer has caused a lot of trouble as it didn't rain for months. "Every garden was burnt, every flower dried out. Water was rationed, watering was banned. "Only my football pitch was a beautiful lush green, because, naturally, I continued to water it."
