Rod Stewart - Stewart Went To Therapist Following Hunter Divorce
Rod Stewart has opened up about the heartbreak he experienced after divorcing second wife Rachel Hunter, revealing he tried therapy in a bid to recover.
The Maggie May hitmaker is known for his Lothario image after bedding a string of leggy blondes but they split in 1999 and finally divorced in 2006.
The rocker now sees the heartache as "karma" for his bad behaviour towards other women and has revealed the extent of his struggles attempting to deal with the break-up.
He tells CNN's Piers Morgan, "Bl**dy hell did it (hurt). Karma gets you! It was a good six months of laying upstairs, looking at the ceiling in bed, couldn't get out of bed, didn't drink for six months - that's how bad it was. I didn't drink for six months...
"There's no way of getting over it, there's no way round it, there's no way through it. I went to therapists, nothing works, you know. Time."
But Stewart, who is now happily married to third wife Penny Lancaster, insists the experience has made him a more caring partner: "I'm a better listener now than I've ever been before. I listen a lot more... I say I love you a lot more than I used to... there's nothing wrong with being soft."
