300 star Rodrigo Santoro lost 28 pounds (12.7 kilograms) to play tragic 1940s Brazilian soccer legend Heleno De Freitas in a new biopic.
The actor spent five years getting the film, which he produced, made - and he really suffered for his passion project.
He tells Eonline.com, "It wasn't too healthy. It was a very strict diet for two months and a lot of cardio. I just kept dropping, dropping and dropping. I had to do it because that's the way he died."
De Freitas died in a mental institution in 1959 at the age of 38.
He spent the last years of his life desperately trying to control an addiction to ether. Untreated syphilis caused him to go insane.
