The Rolling Stones have cancelled their first concert in Australia following the death of Sir Mick Jagger's girlfriend L'Wren Scott.

The body of the 47 year old was found hanging from a scarf in her Manhattan, New York apartment on Monday (17Mar14) in an apparent suicide.

Jagger, who has been dating Scott since 2001, was in Australia for the Rolling Stones' five-city trek Down Under when she passed away. He had arrived in Perth on Sunday (16Mar14) ahead of the first date of their tour on Wednesday (19Mar14).

Tour promoter Frontier announced the cancellation of the Perth date in a statement posted Facebook.com, which reads, "Frontier Touring and Concerts West regret to announce that The Rolling Stones concert in Perth will not be going ahead as scheduled for Wednesday 19 March 2014."

Concertgoers have been told to hold on their tickets and wait for further updates.

It is not known if the remaining tour dates will go ahead at the time Wenn went to press.
