Roseanne Barr - Roseanne Barr - Comedian Is Serious About Green Party Presidential Campaign
The comedian Roseanne Barr has said that she is deadly serious about her attempt to run for the Green Party's presidential nomination. According to the Associated Press, the sitcom star has spoken out in criticism of the two major American political parties, saying "The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants - bought and paid for by the 1% - who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people."
Roseanne has submitted the necessary paperwork to the Green Party in order that she can be considered for the party's presidential candidate. The selection will take place in Baltimore in July. Barr said, in a questionnaire, that she will "barnstorm American living rooms" and added "Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election." The Emmy award-winning actress is keen to address the economic imbalance in the United States between the 1% of the nation that makes up its richest inhabitants and the 99% to whom she refers as "average Americans."
Later this year, Roseanne Barr is also due to appear in a new sitcom, entitled Downwardly Mobile, which was recently bought by the NBC network, according to CBS News. Roseanne will be one of the main cast members, as well as writing and producing the comedy series.
