Late rocker Roy Orbison was honoured in Nashville, Tennessee, last night (01MAY06) on what would have been his 70th birthday. The CRYING singer's widow BARBARA and his son ROY were presented with a proclamation honouring his achievements and contributions to the city by Nashville Mayor BILL PURCELL. The special tribute took place at Nashville's Studio B, where Orbison recorded more than 200 songs. Meanwhile, BEE GEES star Barry Gibb paid tribute to his late idol at the event, revealing Crying was the only single he ever bought. Gibb said, "When I heard that, I had to have it. Every record that man made has touched my life."
