Liv Tyler is looking to ''define'' what she wants from life after years of adapting to other people.
Liv Tyler is trying to "define" what she wants from life.
The 33-year-old model-and-actress - who learned Aerosmith's Steven Tyler was her father when she was eight years old, after believing her dad to be Todd Rundgren - feels "grateful" that her childhood was spent with different relatives because her mother Bebe Buell needed support as she has learned to "adapt" to situations, but now wants to put herself first.
She said: "My mum was young and I think she might not have had the emotional tools to know exactly how to take care of me, so she turned to her family for support. I spent two years with my aunt, a year with my mum and two years with my grandparents.
"I feel grateful for those dynamics. I'm good at adapting, so it's easy for me to suss out a situation and adapt to it.
"At this point in my life, however, I'm trying to define a bit more of what I want, as opposed to adapting to what other people want."
Liv split from husband ROYSTON LANGDON in 2008 after five years together and says she will always put their six-year-old son Milo first.
She told Sunday Times Style magazine: "Since Milo was born, I've been going through all kinds of personal things - getting divorced and trying to allow myself the room to heal from that and rebuild my life.
"Milo and I have been in such transition - I've been trying to be patient. I can't go to work and be happy unless he's happy and feels secure."
