Pop star Rumer presented U.S. President Barack Obama with a tin of chocolate biscuits when she performed at the White House last month (May12).
The singer/songwriter was invited to join Stevie Wonder and Sheryl Crow on the bill at the special event in honour of Burt Bacharach and Hal David, who were being awarded the 2012 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
She felt obliged to present Obama with a gift from her homeland but was stumped for ideas - so she ended up paying $11 (£6.99) for some traditional English sweet treats from a leading supermarket.
Rumer tells U.K. talk show host Graham Norton, "I thought I should take a present, it's polite and I was thinking about something interesting and exotic. But in the end I didn't have time so I went to Marks & Spencer and got a tin of biscuits. It was a nice tin - £6.99. I took the sticker off!"
