LATEST: Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe has bought a majority interest in Sydney, Australia, rugby club the Rabbitohs. The actor appeared at the club's general meeting yesterday (19MAR06), where his bid secured a 75.8 per cent majority vote - just above the 75 percent needed for a controlling interest. Crowe is a life-long fan of South Sydney rugby league team and joined forces with businessman Peter Holmes A Court to table the AUS$3 million ($2.1 million/GBP1.2 million) offer to privatise the club.
