Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons is begging youngsters to think more carefully about their financial futures. Simmons worries kids are being given the wrong message about money by rappers boasting of their bling on music channels. He warned 1,500 young attendees at Morris Brown College on Saturday (16SEP06) that instead of spending, kids must consider saving too. He said, "They don't need to just pay attention to the bling. "Rappers spending countless money are on television. But in real life, these artists are very responsible with their money." Russell was joined at the financial empowerment day by Jermaine Dupri, Ludacris and Paul Wall. The audience was also given a 182-page booklet on the importance of home ownership, credit repair, entrepreneurship and vehicle financing.
