The producers of Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams' controversial new film BLUE VALENTINE have won their fight to land the movie a softer rating.
Censors at the Motion Picture Association of America ruled that some of the film's scenes were too racy for an R rating and suggested Blue Valentine should be released as a restrictive NC-17 movie.
Producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein fought the rating and they have won their battle - the film will be released as an R with all its scenes intact. The new ruling now means the movie could be released to more theatres.
