The Green Lantern star is reprising his role as the comic book killer, aka Wade Wilson, from 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine for the new action film, which has been shooting on location in Vancouver, Canada.

He was recently approached by officials at the charitable Make-A-Wish Foundation to help Tony Acevedo's dream to meet Deadpool come true, and Reynolds shared two photos of the get-together on his Instagram.com page on Friday (22May15).

One snap showed Reynolds hugging the kid, while in another, Acevedo is pictured trying on Deadpool's mask for size as a smiling Reynolds looks on.

In the accompanying caption, the actor joked that the boy had beaten him up, writing, "Tony Acevedo asked Make A Wish Foundation if he could meet Deadpool. I wasn't expecting him to sneak the mask, put on the gloves, smile... and then beat Deadpool about the face, arms and jugular with blazing speed."

The new dad, who welcomed baby daughter James in December (14), then added, "Tony's next fight is with Hodgkin's Disease... Huge thanks to @makeawishamerica."

Ironically, in the Marvel comic books, Deadpool's alter ego, Wilson, is also battling cancer. His mutant super power is an accelerated healing factor.
