Now that the controversial 'Fifty Shades of Grey' trilogy looks set to be adapted for the screen, there's been a lot of internet gossip surrounding the casting of the central characters. Ryan Seacrest recently spoke to the Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder, who confessed he'd be very interested in playing the role of Christian Grey, in the raunchy adaptation. In fact, Somerhalder seemed to have been giving the idea quite a bit of thought, leading E! News to question whether or not he's already eyeing up the part.
When Ryan Seacrest asked Somerhalder if he'd be interested in the role, he instantly replied "Oh goodness! Potentially. I absolutely would be up for that... Absolutely. That would be a pretty incredible thing. And hopefully that could pan out, I think." Aware of the X-rated content of the books, Seacrest managed to slip in a quick double entendre, saying "How big could that be? That could be so big." Ian batted away the attempt to lure him into a smutty conversation though, saying "Are you making a joke? It could be amazing. It could be very, very amazing".
The 33 year-old actor refused to be drawn on who he'd like to play his leading lady in the trashy Twilight-inspired romp, saying that he "most likely would not" get a say in the casting, even if he wanted to, before adding "My wheels, they're not turning they're spinning. There are so many phenomenal actors right now. Ya know what, I'm going to think about that."
