Maggie Gyllenhaal enjoyed a night out with her mother Naomi Foner earlier this week.
The 35-year-old actress was accompanied by her screenwriter mom as she attended the 2013 Sundance Institute Theatre Program Benefit, supported by CIROC Vodka, in New York City, along with stars including Sally Field and David Hyde Pierce.
Maggie, who looked stunning in an Isabel Marant 'Samuel' printed dress, showed off her new cropped hairstyle which she recently admitted was a necessity after she was forced to get an unflattering bowl haircut for a role.
She said: ''I originally cut it in, like, a bowl cut for a movie. But when I got home I was trying to figure out what to do with it, so I asked Serge [Normant, hair stylist] to cut it, and he cut it all off!
''I have a fantasy of what it would be like to have mermaid-style long hair, but I wasn't even close to that when I cut it last time.''
Maggie said her husband Peter Sarsgaard didn't mind her new short hairstyle, explaining: ''I think the way he feels about me really does not have a lot to do with my hair. And I'm really incredibly grateful for that.''
