Scottish singer/songwriter Sandi Thom risked her life to 'rescue' a dead fox from freeway traffic on Thursday (10Jan13).

The I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (With Flowers in My Hair) hitmaker spotted the lifeless creature in the road and pulled over to move it out of the path of oncoming vehicles.

Thom reveals she had hoped to save the fox - but it was already dead by the time she reached it.

In a series of posts on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Just pulled an enormous wild fox from the road into the verge. Not long passed. Someone obviously hit it and left it. It most likely would have lived if the heartless b**tard had stopped and taken it to a vet, its injuries didn't appear to be too bad.

"Alas. It died. And I ran out into the middle of the freeway to pull it out of the way to not allow its body to be pummeled by oncoming traffic. Almost got myself killed in the process. But I couldn't just leave the poor creature to die on its own. But when i got there it was too late."

Thom didn't reveal where she was when she came across the creature carnage.
