Britain's PRINCE PHILIP snubbed MAJOR RONALD FERGUSON's final wish to end the royal rift, according to Ferguson's daughter the DUCHESS OF YORK.

Sarah Ferguson says her dad wrote to the prince - husband of Queen ELIZABETH II and Sarah's father-in-law - on his deathbed, asking for Philip to visit him to discuss their differences.

But cold-hearted Philip - who had known Ronald for decades since their polo-playing days - refused the request.

Fergie, 43, reveals that PRINCE CHARLES showed more kindness than his father towards the dying Major, who was battling prostate cancer.

She says, "Charles was very good. He called Dad, had him and his wife SUSAN to stay. And he came to the funeral.

"The Queen sent a representative."
