Director Marc Webb is keeping tight-lipped about character details in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' to keep viewers guessing until the film hits our screens in 2014.
Marc Webb is keeping quiet about 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' to surprise viewers.
The 38-year-old director has cast a number of actors, including Sarah Gadon, Felicity Jones and Colm Feore, for roles in the film, but refuses to reveal who they will play because he wants to maintain the audience's attention throughout the film.
He told TotalFilm.com: ''Anything you expect [about who these actors are playing], you'll be surprised. To be totally honest, I intentionally conceal these things because I want people to be engaged and surprised when they see the film and experience it for the first time.''
Although Marc was inspired by aspects of the Marvel Comics, he doesn't want a predictable plot to ruin viewers' experience.
He added: ''We are constructing them from elements of the comics obviously, from the canon.
''And we pay homage and are very protective of certain elements of the canon, but we want people to experience it for the first time in the theatre and I think that's an experience that it often robbed from the audience, so you'll forgive me being coy.''
'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' will be released on April 18 2014 in the UK and May 2 2014 in the US.
