Sarah Palin, the Republican politician and Governor of Alaska, has reacted to last night's Dancing With The Stars final on her Twitter page. The season eleven finale saw Jennifer Grey defeat Disney star Kyle Massey, and Palin's daughter Bristol Palin, to take this year's crown.
The 46-year-old, who had appeared in the live studio audience for several of this year's shows, congratulated Grey on her win, saying, "Well, what a great ride! Competition is good for everyone. Be inspired by those who step up to challenges & improve w/each step. Congrats Jen!" Recent reports had suggested that Bristol may have benefitted from 'politically motivated' votes in the earlier rounds of the show, with suggestions that supporters of America's right-wing parties were voting for the 20-year-old in their masses. However, the Palin's had consistently played down the allegations, as had the show's producers. Last week, a man from Wisconsin became so enraged at Bristol's progress in the competition that he blasted through his television set with a shotgun.
The 46-year-old Governor later tweeted a second message concerning the final, saying, "Congrats Jen, Kyle, Bristol, et al, for proving competition is GOOD! Remember: 'They're going to criticize anyway, so you might as well dance!'"
